Shaping up. Giving hope. Honoring lives.

Each year, over half a million dreams are shattered. Out of 3.3 million born alive, some 30,000 die during the first 28 days. Another 39,000 babies are still born. Miscarriage occurs in fifteen to twenty percent of pregnancies, while ectopic pregnancy occurs in one percent. It is estimated that approximately 6,000 babies are at risk each year in the United States due to Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS.)

TTTS is a condition that happens in up to 40% of multiple identical pregnancies. It only happens in identical twins or a higher multiple pregnancy with identical twins. It can happen anytime during an affected pregnancy or a higher multiple pregnancy. Identical twins are not inherited. The identical twinning process occurs when one embryo splits to create two babies.

Amy's Angels is a Texas based 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-denominational, volunteer based organization providing outreach and support to individuals and families who experience pregnancy and infant loss from conception to one year of age. The Fetal Hope Foundation is a Colorado based 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation providing support, information, funding research, increasing awareness and being an outlet for leading medical information pertaining to fetal distresses and syndromes. The Fetal Hope Foundation is all about arming families with information and helping to save their babies' lives.

The Fetal Hope Foundation will be in Houston, Texas in 2009 for their first TTTS Race for Hope. I will be raising money for Amy's Angels and The Fetal Hope Foundation. Each organization will receive 50% of the funds raised. Team Angels will be shaping up for the TTTS Race for Hope. Please pledge to donate anything from .50 to $25.00 for every pound I lose.
